Meaning and use
- ✝︎ ✞ ✟ are the Latin cross in plain, shadowed and outlined style; ☦︎ is the Orthodox cross with its slanted lower bar.
- ☨ is the cross of Lorraine, ☩ the cross of Jerusalem, ✠ the Maltese cross, ☧ the Chi Rho.
- ☥ is the ankh, the Egyptian sign of life.
- † and ‡ are the dagger and double dagger from typesetting, used for footnotes and, after a name, to mark someone who has died.
- ✕ ✗ ✘ are not religious at all: they are X marks for wrong answers, closed items and lists.
Compatibility
✝︎ ☦︎ and ✖︎ also exist as emoji. We copy them with U+FE0E, which asks phones for the plain text version; a few apps ignore it and show the emoji anyway. ✞ and † have no emoji form and look the same everywhere.
Questions
