Can I use fancy fonts in my Roblox username?

No. Usernames take only letters, numbers and one underscore. For name ideas that pass, see the Roblox username generator.

Why did my Roblox text turn into hashtags?

The filter hid something it did not accept, which can include unusual characters. Use a plainer style or fewer symbols.

Are fancy fonts allowed in Roblox display names?

Roblox filters display names too. Some styled text may be accepted and many characters are not; you can change your display name once a week, so try one and see.

- Stripped by name filters (combining marks): Strikethrough, Underline, Double Underline, Side Squiggles, Side Slashes, Top Squiggles, Arrows Below, Exes, Box Lines, Glitch, Zalgo, Overline.
Username
Up to 20 characters.
- 3 to 20 characters: letters, numbers and one underscore, not at the start or end.
- No fancy fonts or symbols. Changing it costs Robux.
Display name
- Roblox filters display names. Some styled letters may pass, but many symbols and styles are refused.
- You can change it once every 7 days, so testing a style costs nothing but time.
About, groups and chat
- Text goes through Roblox's filter; characters it does not accept can be hidden as ####.
- Try a short word first, then the full text.

What works in Roblox

Roblox checks text against a filter before others see it. Plain Bold, Sans Bold and Small Caps letters have the best chance; combining-mark styles like strikethrough and glitch get stripped. If a word turns into hashtags, try a plainer style or drop the symbols.

Looking for Roblox game fonts such as the ones used by Bloxstrap? Those are font files that change how the game draws its own text, not characters you can paste; this page is about text you paste.
