Old English, gothic, Fraktur

All three names describe blackletter, the heavy script of old manuscripts and newspaper mastheads. Unicode has it twice: Gothic (๐”‰๐”ฏ๐”ž๐”จ๐”ฑ๐”ฒ๐”ฏ) and the darker Bold Gothic (๐•ญ๐–”๐–‘๐–‰). Bold Gothic is easier to read at small sizes and has no borrowed letters.

In plain Gothic five capitals come from an older block (โ„ญ, โ„Œ, โ„‘, โ„œ, โ„จ), so a few fonts draw them a little differently from the rest.
